Collaboration and discussion is crucial to the progress of any team, organization or society. Group discussions provide a conducive environment for thinking, brainstorming and and finding creative solutions to problems. They also serve as good preparation for campus interviews.

Speaking alone in front of an audience is many people's worst nightmare. Here at PICT DEBSOC, though, we practice this skill through extempore speeches on a wide range of topics.

PICT DebSoc conducts SCRIBBLE IT DOWN, an online content writing competition, where the participants are required to write on the topic “Courage”. The content allows articles or poems but all under a 150-word limit. The week-long competition is open to all and receives an overwhelming response.

The Open Mic is a major event that is organized every year for students to showcase their skills in front of their peers. Whether through speech, poetry, music or art, the event is aimed at inspiring individuals to break the ice and express themselves freely.

Great speakers inspire action and shape young minds to become future leaders. DSP is an initiative by PICT DEBSOC, where we invite eminent speakers and masters in the field of public speaking to share their knowledge and experiences exclusively with the staff and students of PICT.

The Intra College segment of DebSoc’s annual flagship event Paricharcha is held annually. Paricharcha is conducted offline and it's a gigantic success. The event is conducted over three rounds: 1) a Thousand Words: An image-based extempore round, 2) Group Discussion and 3) Public Forum Debate. Different aspects of the participants’ oratory skills, their imaginations, their understanding, and their analysis were tested throughout, making it an amazing opportunity for everyone to practice and learn essential soft skills. The event orchestrated a symphony of eloquent orators and articulate arguers.

On the occasion of the 75th Independence Day, we hosted a series of events called "Say it with Salutes", which included an intra-college speech and quiz competition for students, a story-telling event for the staff, and writing competition and fancy dress activity for both students and professionals. The entire event was enjoyed by students, staff, and working professionals alike and was a beautiful way to celebrate our independence.

Different aspects of the participants’ oratory skills, their imaginations, their understanding, and their analysis were tested throughout, making it an amazing opportunity for everyone to practice and learn essential soft skills. Inter Paricharcha is a national-level inter-collegiate debate competition organized by DebSoc that is scheduled for later this year. Debates are conducted using the Asian Parliamentary Debate (APD) format and the mettle of the debaters is tested across several rounds of intense debating. The participants belong to a plethora of colleges of different streams like engineering, law, and humanities.
